Elon Musk Weighs In on Navarro's Conviction

In a surprising turn of events billionaire entrepreneur and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk took to Twitter to share his thoughts on Peter Navarro's contempt of Congress conviction. Musk known for his provocative and unconventional tweets wrote 'I'd defy subpoenas too if it meant avoiding prison! Who wouldn't? ????? #NoSubpoenaNoProblem #PrisonBreak.'

Navarro's Freedom Denied

Unfortunately for Navarro his request to remain out of prison while he appeals his conviction has been denied by a federal judge. Navarro who was found guilty of defying a subpoena for documents and a deposition from the House Jan. 6 Committee has been sentenced to four months behind bars. Judge Amit Mehta dismissed Navarro's claims of political bias and stated that he must report to serve his sentence unless the federal appeals court intervenes.

Navarro's 'Cynical Self Serving Claim'

Judge Mehta had some choice words for Navarro's argument of political bias referring to it as a 'cynical self serving claim' that lacked any substantial evidence. It seems Navarro's attempt to blame politics for his conviction did not elicit much sympathy from the judge who was appointed by former President Barack Obama. Perhaps Navarro should stick to trade advice rather than making baseless accusations.

No Trump Privilege for Navarro

Navarro's defense that he couldn't cooperate with the committee due to Trump invoking executive privilege was shot down by the judge. According to Mehta Navarro failed to provide any proof that Trump had actually invoked executive privilege. It looks like Navarro's attempt to hide behind privilege fell flat leaving him without a legal leg to stand on.

Navarro's Company in 'Contempt' of Congress

It seems Navarro is not the only former Trump aide facing contempt of Congress charges. Steve Bannon another former White House adviser has also received a four month sentence. However Bannon is currently free pending appeal. With multiple Trump associates facing charges it begs the question: is 'contempt' contagious in Trump's world?

The Jan. 6 Committee's Investigation

The House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol has spared no effort in uncovering the truth. With over 1,000 witnesses interviewed 10 hearings held and more than 1 million pages of documents obtained the committee has compiled a comprehensive report. According to their findings Trump was involved in a 'multi part conspiracy' to overturn the election results and failed to take action to stop his supporters from storming the Capitol. It looks like the committee's hard work is paying off.
