U.S. Treasury yields climb after surprising price increase in January

Basis Points and Buckets of Cash

So turns out the U.S. Treasury yields have taken off like my good old Dodge Charger! The 10 year Treasury yield is soaring at 4.295% just shy of hitting that notorious 4.3% mark. And the 2 year Treasury yield spiked by 9 basis points reaching new heights at 4.66%. That's some serious cash flying around!

Get Your Engines Revving

Hold on tight because this news is like a Nitrous Oxide boost to the already intense market! The producer price index which measures wholesale prices climbed 0.3% in January—beating those so called 'economists' who thought it would only go up by 0.1%. And guess what? The core PPI excluding food and energy prices jumped by 0.5%! Talk about burning rubber!

Inflation: The Dominic Toretto of the Economy

We know my love for speed and adrenaline but the economy seems to have caught the 'fast and furious' bug too. The latest consumer price index showed a 0.3% monthly increase and a whopping 3.1% annual rise. Looks like inflation is trying to pull off a Vin Diesel style heist!

Markets Hit the Brakes

Looks like all this talk of inflation got the markets in a spin. Retail sales figures took a nosedive of 0.8% in January leaving investors more shocked than when Brian O'Conner first joined the family. Economists were expecting a 0.3% decrease but hey who needs predictability when you have a wild ride?

Stay Calm Letty!

But it's not all bad news my friends. The labor market is showing some muscle with initial jobless claims dropping to 212,000 down from the previous period. The economy might be revving its engine but at least we've got a sturdy grip on the steering wheel!

Fed's Data Led Decision Making

The Federal Reserve says they're keeping a close eye on the data just like I keep an eye on my crew during a heist. The decision making process will be driven by the numbers and trust me they better make it fast and furious!
