Skylo Technologies: Connecting Devices with Satellites

Hey folks guess what? There's this startup in Silicon Valley called Skylo Technologies and they just got a bunch of money from big shots like Intel BMW and Samsung. What are they gonna do with all that cash you ask? Well they want to bridge the gap between satellites and our good ol' terrestrial communications. Good idea huh?

No More Antennas and Bulky Equipment

You know how satellites are usually all about those big antennas and bulky equipment? Well Skylo's got a different plan. They want to provide a network that connects new devices like low bandwidth IoT hardware and high bandwidth smartphones using existing satellites. And the best part? No extra antennas or bulky equipment required. That means less hassle for all of us! Woo hoo!

Rubber Stamping and Linking Devices by Skylo

So this guy Parth Trivedi who's the CEO of Skylo says his company can be a "roaming partner" to existing cellular networks. They're gonna certify chips and devices to connect with satellites in orbit. In other words they're gonna rubber stamp and link devices made by other connectivity players. Talk about being the middleman huh? It's like when I get caught between Marge and Bart's arguments. Just nod and smile Homer.

Partnerships with Big Chipset Makers

Skylo's got some fancy partnerships with Qualcomm Samsung MediaTek and Sony. They're already certifying a bunch of IoT chips and working on certifying more for wearable devices and smartphones. So pretty soon most major smartphone modems will support the Skylo network. I can finally browse the internet without lousy Wi Fi! D'oh!

Skylo's Clever Use of Existing Infrastructure

You gotta give it to these Skylo guys. They've smartly used existing infrastructure wherever possible which means less money spent on new stuff. And according to this Dave Johnson guy from Intel Capital they've engineered the whole solution so well that it's seamless and easy for customers to adopt. Now that's some smart thinking just like when I thought of putting a hammock in the bathroom!

Revenue and Expansion

Guess what? Skylo's actually making money already! But they're playing it coy and not telling us the details. They must be doing something right if they're getting cash flow. They've also got offices in Finland and India in addition to their Silicon Valley headquarters. It's like they're taking over the world one satellite at a time. Maybe I should join their team and become the resident satellite aficionado. Homer Simpson space explorer extraordinaire!
