Peter Griffin: Touchdown for Amazon

Hey there buckaroos! It looks like Amazon just scored a touchdown in the streaming game! According to a source they've won the exclusive rights to stream an NFL playoff game next season. You know what that means? Prime Video is about to become football's new best friend!

Metrics and Money

To secure the rights Amazon had to hit certain viewership metrics this past season as part of their "Thursday Night Football" agreement with the NFL. And boy did they hit 'em! They're throwing around a cool $1 billion a year for the exclusive rights to Thursday Night Football. That's a whole lot of clams!

Peacock No More

Last month NBCUniversal's Peacock had the honor of streaming an NFL Wild Card game. But now Amazon is taking over the playoff game scene. NBCUniversal wanted to keep the streaming only playoff matchup but the Wall Street Journal reported that Amazon swooped in and stole the show. Looks like Peacock got its feathers ruffled!

Prime Membership Power

Why is Amazon so eager to get into the sports broadcasting game? Well they're hoping it'll boost their Prime membership numbers. And with all the perks that come with Prime like free shipping and access to Prime Video who can resist? They've got 200 million subscribers worldwide and 80 million active Prime Video households in the U.S. That's one big field of football fans!

Of course Amazon and the NFL are keeping tight lipped about the deal. And NBCUniversal's representative didn't respond to a request for comment. Looks like they're playing it cool just like Tom Brady on the field.

Game Changing Streaming

It's a whole new ball game folks! Streaming services are taking over the world of sports and it's changing the way we watch our favorite teams. Who needs cable when you can tune in to the game from your couch munching on nachos and sipping on a cold one? It's a touchdown for convenience!
