Navarro Denied Freedom the Force is Strong with the Judge

In a decision that leaves Trump official Peter Navarro feeling more like a Sith Lord than a Jedi a federal judge has denied his bid to remain out of prison while he appeals his contempt of Congress conviction.

Navarro's Subpoena Dodging Lands Him Behind Bars

Navarro was sentenced to four months behind bars after defying a subpoena for documents and a deposition from the House Jan. 6 Committee. His request to be free during the appeal process was rejected by U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta who made it clear that Navarro must report to prison unless the federal appeals court intervenes.

Judge Rejects Navarro's Claims of Political Bias

Navarro had argued that his prosecution was politically motivated but Judge Mehta dismissed the claim stating that Navarro provided "no actual proof" to support it. The judge emphasized that Navarro's claim of political bias poses no substantial question at all leaving Navarro to rely on his lightsaber rather than legal arguments.

Navarro's Executive Privilege Argument Fails

Navarro claimed he couldn't cooperate with the committee due to Trump's invocation of executive privilege. However the judge found that Navarro failed to show that Trump had actually invoked it barring him from making that argument at trial. It seems Navarro's Jedi mind tricks weren't effective in convincing the judge.

The House Committee's Investigation Reveals Trump's Dark Side

The House committee's investigation into the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol concluded that Trump criminally engaged in a "multi part conspiracy" and failed to act to stop his supporters from storming the Capitol. Trump finds himself facing criminal charges and denying any wrongdoing but the Force may not be strong enough to protect him this time.

Bannon's Fate Hangs in the Balance

Navarro is not alone in facing contempt of Congress charges. Former White House adviser Steve Bannon received a four month sentence but is currently free pending appeal. Whether the Force will guide Bannon's fate remains to be seen but the battle against the dark side continues.

I guess the Dark Side doesn't have a lot of privileges.
