Wells Fargo bounces back from scandal as regulator lifts key penalty

Wells Fargo: A Box of Chocolates

Well folks it looks like Wells Fargo is having a shrimpin' good time recently. The bank just got some great news from one of its regulators the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). They decided to lift a big penalty that was hanging over Wells Fargo's head like a dark cloud. It's like when I was running from all those people in that movie 'Run Forrest Run!'

No More Fake Accounts Hooray!

You see back in 2016 Wells Fargo got caught with their hands in the cookie jar. They were opening up fake accounts left and right without their customers even knowing it. Talk about a box of chocolates with a nasty surprise inside! Well they finally admitted to it and now they're paying the price.

Banking on a Comeback

But hey every shrimp boat needs a second chance right? And that's exactly what Wells Fargo is getting. With the lifting of this penalty their shares jumped more than 6%. That's a whole lot of shrimp! It's like Bubba always said 'Shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it boil it broil it bake it saute it. Dey's uh shrimp kabobs shrimp creole shrimp gumbo. Pan fried deep fried stir fried. There's pineapple shrimp lemon shrimp coconut shrimp pepper shrimp shrimp soup shrimp stew shrimp salad shrimp and potatoes shrimp burger shrimp sandwich.'

A Milestone Achievement

CEO Charlie Scharf is pretty excited about this development. He called it a 'milestone' for the bank. Well I remember a few milestones in my life. Like that time I ran across the country a few times and ended up on the cover of all them magazines. Life is like a box of chocolates you never know what you're gonna get and sometimes you get a milestone!

The Road to Redemption

Now don't get me wrong this is just the beginning of Wells Fargo's journey back to redemption. They still have eight more consent orders to deal with including one from the Federal Reserve. It's like they're stuck in the mud but they're slowly crawling their way out.

A Bright Future Ahead

But you know what I have faith in Wells Fargo. They've put in new systems and controls to make sure something like this fake accounts scandal doesn't happen again. They're determined to serve their customers better just like Jenny was determined to be with me. And if they keep going down this path the sky's the limit for them. Maybe one day they'll reach a trillion dollar market value just like I reached the end of my run.
