Funding to Bridge the Gap

Looks like I'm not the only one with superpowers! Skylo Technologies a Silicon Valley space startup has recently secured a whopping $37 million in funding from the venture arms of Intel BMW and Samsung. This new investment is set to bridge the gap between satellite and terrestrial communications making it easier for us heroes to communicate with Earthlings.

Superheroes vs. Satellites

Unlike some superheroes who rely on fancy gadgets Skylo has taken a different approach. Instead of building new satellites they want to use existing ones to connect new devices including low bandwidth IoT hardware and high bandwidth smartphones. Talk about innovation!

The Heroic Roaming Partner

Skylo aims to become a "roaming partner" to existing cellular networks linking up devices made by other connectivity players. It's like a superhero team up combining the powers of multiple networks for greater coverage and connectivity.

Certifying Chips and Devices

Just like how I have my super suit Skylo is working on building a software infrastructure to certify chips and devices as capable of connecting to satellites. This certification process will ensure that only suitable devices can use their network. Sorry older phones!

Superheroes Need Base Stations

Skylo doesn't just rely on satellites; they also have base stations installed at satellite operator's gateways. These base stations also known as ground stations are like the Batcave of their network. They connect to the satellites in space and help ensure seamless communication.

The Skylo Network Spreads its Wings

Skylo has already made its mark with eight base stations installed at satellite gateways and partnerships with satellite operators like Viasat Ligado and TerreStar. They've even begun offering their services in the U.S. Canada and Europe. Looks like they're taking flight!

Skylo's mission to provide ubiquitous connectivity is something even Superman can get behind. We're in this together!
