Pay TV Distributors Fret Over Skinny Bundle Offerings
Pay TV Distributors Fret Over Skinny Bundle Offerings

What's the Deal with the Skinny Bundle?

Now I may not be a math whiz but something about this new joint venture just doesn't add up. Disney Warner Bros. Discovery and Fox are teaming up to offer a skinny bundle of sports programming outside of the traditional cable bundle. But here's the million dollar question will other pay TV distributors be able to offer the same thing? Or will it be slim pickings for them? Talk about a conundrum!

One for the Sports Fans

I've always said in the words of my famous catchphrase "It's not the years honey it's the mileage." And boy does this joint venture drive that point home. The idea is to cater to those die hard sports fans who only want to watch the big game and aren't interested in all the other fluff. It's a win for distributors but a loss for programmers who rely on those sports loving households. Think about it all those households paying for sports but not actually watching them. It's like paying for a first class ticket and then sleeping in the cargo hold. Talk about a waste of money!

Will They or Won't They?

Ah the eternal question will pay TV distributors be allowed to offer the same skinny bundle or not? It's a real nail biter folks. On one hand if distributors can offer the same product it's smooth sailing. But if they're denied well we might have a mutiny on our hands. And that doesn't bode well for anyone involved. It's like trying to outrun a boulder only to realize you left your whip and Fedora behind. Classic Indy move am I right?

Skinny Bundle Wars

Pay TV distributors have been praying to the gods of cable for years begging for the right to offer cheaper skinnier bundles. But their pleas have fallen on deaf ears much like when I try to reason with my sidekick Short Round. It's frustrating to say the least. But now they're faced with a new quandary. If this joint venture denies them the chance to create their own skinny bundles they might just take it to court. Lawsuits ahoy! It's like a battle in the Temple of Doom only with less heart ripping and more legal wrangling.

The Big Players

When it comes to this joint venture there are winners and losers in the pay TV world. Charter and Comcast might see a boost to their broadband businesses thanks to the increased demand for high speed internet. But others like DirecTV Dish and YouTube TV might not be so lucky. It's like a game of cat and mouse with the big cats pouncing on the little guys. You've got to watch your step in this business!

The Name Game

You'd think that a joint venture of this magnitude would have a snazzy name right? Something catchy like 'The Temple of Sports' or 'Raiders of the Skinny Bundle.' But alas we're left in suspense waiting for the big reveal. It's like searching for the Holy Grail you know it's out there but the path to finding it is full of obstacles and mysterious symbols. May the best name win!
